In our opinion, these offers provide the best Pricing AND Service combinations available.
Aussie Phone Brokers has performed over 1000 bill recalculations for businesses in Australia. The above two providers are those we are most comfortable recommending due to their high combination of price-performance AND customer service.
Pricing from other providers might slightly outperform these offers; but once the element of customer service is considered, these are our two preferred recommendations.
Customer Service from TPC and Primus
Trans Pacific Communications provides all Aussie Phone Brokers clients with an Account Manager. This is very rare for small business accounts, and provides great weight to our recommendations. Also, pricing from this provider is at or nearly market-best for small business connections.
Primus Telecom is generally accepted within the Telecomms industry to have the best customer service of any of the large telecommunications carriers. This also provides great weight in our recommendations. Primus is also one of the 'big four' telecommunications providers.
Both providers are talked about in much greater depth in a downloadable pdf document : Pricing & Comparison Information.

Landline Information and Tips
Bundled Solutions:
Aussie Phone Brokers examine the three areas of telecommunications through bundled offers and separately. Telephone, Mobile and Internet services tend to be a more expensive when bundled. Also Aussie finds that most providers have greater service capabilities in one of the three areas, and so bundled telecommunications solutions can leave a client with less than satisfactory servicing in one or two areas.
Generally speaking: it is best to separate each service - for both pricing and servicing reasons.
Call Cost Drivers in Landline Services:
There are several main cost drivers in each telephone bill. The most obvious costs are the local calls, STD Calls and Calls to Mobile Phones. However, peripheral costs such as Line Rentals and Service Calls are often major source of savings.
Generally speaking: the major telephone cost centres are the Calls to Mobile Phones and the Line Rental charges. Our two recommended solutions offer excellent pricing on both.
PSTN, ISDN2 and ISDN10/20/30 Landline Connections:
PSTN telephone services are the traditional copper lines to most premises. ISDN2 is the carriage of two voice lines (or data facility) over a single copper line. ISDN10/20/30 services are connections for 10, 20 or 30 lines over a single copper line also. All of these services are time-tested and reliable services.
Generally speaking: PSTN and ISDN2 telephone lines are used by small business.
If an ISDN10/20/30 service is in use, please contact Aussie for tailored solutions.
VoDSL and VoIP Landline Connections:
These connections are much newer to the telecommunications scene. VoDSL is now considered a proven technology, and with line rental savings of around 35% this is certainly a viable option. VoDSL is generally available only: 1) in state capital cities, and 2) for businesses with 5 or more PSTN lines in use.
VoIP is not yet being recommended by Aussie Phone Brokers, due to its inherently unstable nature. VoIP is not regarded as a business-grade product.
Generally speaking: VoDSL is a very attractive alternative for many Small and Medium businesses.
VoIP is only considered to be: 1) an in-house solution for companies with multiple sites, and 2) a viable solution for international calling.

Landline Phone Plans by Aussie Phone Brokers
Landline Phone Lines (also called Fixed Line Phones, Fixed Services and Wired Services) are the lifeblood of most Australian Businesses. For most companies, having 24/7 working phones is simply the most important part of all their telecommunications.

Landline call types:
- Local calls: Generally speaking, these are calls within the same STD area code, are untimed and charged at a flat rate.
The latest marketing trend is to include a number of these phone calls for ‘free’ with some plans. - National Direct Dialed: Long distance calls have many names. NDD calls, National Direct Dialed; STD calls, Standard Trunk Dialling; and National Phone Calls are the main aliases. Generally speaking, these are phone calls to other STD area codes.
The current best business phone plans have no flagfall and have a low rate per minute. - Fixed to Mobile calls: Phone calls to mobile phones are generally the most expensive of the main call types.
Many business phone deals now offer cheap phone calls to mobile phones from the same provider. - International Direct Dialling: While IDD phone calls are not one of the major call types, they can have a significant impact on some businesses. Call rates from Landlines to international destination numbers differ remarkably between providers.
The business phone call rates for IDD calls are often capped for calls to certain countries. However, destination countries and their call costs should be negotiable with most providers. - Service Numbers: Calls to 13- numbers are billed separately and are often set at a fixed price.
- Inbound Service Numbers: Inbound services are costs associated with providing a 1800, 13 or 1300 number service. The pricing of these services often goes unnoticed by businesses.
There are significant price differences between offers from the various providers.
