What is a mobile fleet?
Two or more handsets on the same account constitutes a mobile fleet. And all carriers provide some level of benefit for even the smallest mobile group. Cheap (or free) calls between fleet members are the most common mobile fleet feature, and should be present for any business mobile phone plan for multiple handsets. Another common company mobile fleet feature is cost sharing of allocated monthly credit across the multiple mobile handset accounts.
However, as mobile numbers increase, so do the added plan features. Which mobile fleet features are available depend on the size and composition of the fleet.

Telstra mobile fleets begin in earnest at 5 mobile handsets, with entry-level plans available for 2 or more handsets. The Telstra MobileNet group plans incorporate free calls between fleet members, 1 second billing, call aggregation and single billing. Fleet calls are referred to as Intra Account Calls and are usually entirely free - untimed and uncapped.
Telstra mobile corporate plans perform strongly.
Optus Business Mobile Plans
The business mobile fleet plans from Optus begin in earnest with 6 handsets. Entry level plans are offered for 2 or more handsets. These mobile plans also include free fleet member calls, call aggregation and single billing. The provision of free or cheap calls to nominated landline numbers is also incorporated into these offers, as is cheap or free voicemail.
As a rule, Optus business mobile plans perform most strongly in small fleets.
Vodafone Business Mobile Plans
These are the most unusual of all plans. Aussie considers the Vodafone group plans to be a hybrid of 'traditional' mobile plans and the newer capped plans. Their mobile fleet plans begin in earnest at 2 handsets. They incorporate call aggregation, per second billing, cheap or free calls between fleet members and cheap or free calls to nominated landlines.
Generally, Vodafone mobile group plans are best for 4 or more handsets.
3 Mobile Business Plans
The mobile fleet plans for Hutchison 3 begin at 2 handsets. Again, call aggregation is incorporated, as are free (timed) calls to fleet members. (In fact, these 'fleet' call rates are applied across the entire 3 network.) For fleets of mobiles where the average spend is over $45 per mobile per month, 3 will often outperform the other carriers.
